The relationship between a parent and a child is both unique and universal. Not everyone will have children, but everyone has parents. Even if you’ve never met your parents or they died before you knew them, their absence is still a presence in your life. It’s inescapable.
This is a very touchy subject for me bc both my parents fit into the 'corrosive' category. I've been trying for years to 'get it', even travelling to their home country to understand what happened to them, but I just came away incredibly disillusioned and even more sad.
The good news is I still warm up to the feeling of 'wow' whenever I see mums and dads getting along with their kids. Kids are cool. I will probably never have any (which is fine), but I'm happy enough to be the kind of adult that listens to kids, engages with them, validates their world view etc...if I can give that then I feel there's hope that we definitely don't have to take on the worst traits of our parents!
That was very broadly beautiful. It gives me the courage to see Star Wars beyond the various horrors of the third released episode, once known as episode III of the second trilogy, but the sequence has become baroque to the point of rococo. Just that aspect is frightening.
Parents.

This is interesting.
I wonder, does Nathan reply to emails you send to his substack? Does contacting him that way work?

The 'Dark Father' illuminates once again...*sigh*. Parents, hehe 💫
